Description |
Almost all bronze pieces from Benin were made to honour
the king, or Oba, who reigned with his ancestors, from
the 15th century. Design in general has always been the
same since its beginning. Although this huntsman was
made in the 20th century, it was sculpted by hand from
an early piece, and then cast in bronze by the lost wax
process as it was made centuries ago Bronze is valued in
art for its strength and durability. |
