Description |
Head-rests were designed to preserve elaborate
hairstyles, and to keep the head at the same level as
the shoulders during sleep, but their function goes
beyond practicality. It is a personal object with many
African people; they even carry it all day on their
shoulder, believing it receives spiritual forces from
ancestors when they are asleep and dreaming. |
