Description |
The Bwa people from Mali and Burkina Faso are known for
creating the wide horizontal mask of the Butterfly, the
tall Plank mask Nwantantay and the Sun mask all used
during agricultural festivities. Very important for the
growth of crops to feed all the villagers The Butterfly
mask to bring the rains, the Plank mask to ask their god
Do (who represents the life force of the forest ,plant
life and the fields) to give life to the crops and the
Sun mask to make the sun shine for the growth of strong
green plants This mask is worn in front of the dancers
face and held in place with a thick rope. |
